A new AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) rooflight, with off-set motor to allow smoke ventilation and access, has been launched by leading manufacturer Coxdome.
The new AOV is uniquely designed to offer both a centrally positioned or off-set motor to cover both aspects of ventilation and access, giving building users peace of mind. Furthermore, it has been fully tested to and certified to EN12101 – 2:2003 as a legal requirement under the Construction Products Regulation 2013.
“This addition to our rooflight range gives installers and building specifiers greater flexibility to ensure practical needs are met alongside essential safety requirements,” said Jim Lowther Sales Director Coxdome. “By moving the motor to the side building occupants can now be provided with a safe escape route whilst providing day-to-day controllable ventilation.”
Designed to allow safe and easy access to a roof space, the enhanced specification rooflight now combines the practicality of necessary access to a roof for inspection, maintenance or escape, with the need for smoke extraction and controllable ventilation. The AOV rooflight is suitable for use on flat roofs and is linked to a central control panel with battery back-up in case of main electricity failure. It is available in a variety of sizes and in clear or obscure polycarbonate glazing to enhance natural daylight, or with a fully insulated solid aluminium cover.
“Our AOV fulfils a market niche in that it combines the aesthetics and practicalities of a rooflight and the essential safety of smoke ventilation,” said Jim “Increased flexibility is now given to specifiers to embrace the credentials of this unique product which supports essential requirements in both domestic and commercial applications keeping buildings and people safe.”
The AOV currently conforms with Part L of the Building Regulations and Part B which pertains to fire safety. Furthermore, it gives added value future proofing buildings as it also meets the proposed changes to the regulations.
Coxdome is proud to offer a range of rooflight solutions that includes AOV’s, smoke vents, barrel rooflights and also bespoke solutions for individual projects.
